In absolute awe to have been invited to attend the Female Founders event in London yesterday.

Hosted at the London Stock Exchange, just around the corner from where my career started 37 years ago, I stood for a moment in Paternoster Square and looked back at what I have learnt in that time.

Supported by NOTWICS and Equality Group, it was exciting to meet the successful 6 female-led start-ups who were pitching at the event.

Having applied to pitch, I knew that the chances were slim to none with only 6 spaces available, but when you meet the incredible ladies who pitched their amazing businesses, you realise that by goodness, the bar was very, very high!

Ayan Mohamed Ali from Digitech Oasis – with amazing hardware and software in AI and robotics, being applied in retail distribution centres across the globe.

Rachel Curtis from Inicio AI, whose virtual client affordability App ‘Budgie’ is helping organisations to manage debit and finances with clients, benefiting the individuals.

Amelia Miller, co-founder of ivee | The return-to-work platform, a returning to work eco system that is more effectively connecting what could be seen an invisible talent, with employers, that they could have missed.

Rebecca Morter, is the founder of the Lone Design Club, a space monetisation platform that is revolutionising the update of short-term 'revolving' spaces for landlords, so a bit like Air B&B.

Julia O'Toole pitched the mind blowing MyCena® Unphishable Access, a security solutions organisation that separates identification from authentication.

And lastly, Caroline Cake from Kneu Health, that is reinventing neurology care via a smart phone App, which is already increasing quality care and the reduction of bed utilisation within our healthcare system here and in the US.

What struck me is that all of these businesses have a very strong connection with my day-to-day life, in some way or another. I learnt a lot from all of you ladies, for which I am very grateful. Continue to take the world by storm, even more than you are already!

Fabulous input from the expert panel discussion, with moderator, Neil Shah, Head of Tech & Tech-Enabled Sector, London Stock Exchange:

Debbie Wosskow, OBE OBE, Multi-exit Entrepreneur & Co-Chair of the Invest in Women Taskforce

Sam Smith, Entrepreneur & Co-Founder, The SuperScalers, and author of the ‘Super Sauce’

Dr Pamela Walker Geddes, Partner, THENA Capital

Alex Pitt, Co-founder & Managing Partner, MUSTARD SEED PARTNERS INC

As Sam Smith said, “you have to build big and have more ambition – have that with or without you energy” and Debbie Wosskow, OBE “you have to have a rhino hide as a woman in business – be brave, not sensitive”. Spot on from both of you!
