OMG, I did it! - Yr Wyddfa, aka Snowden. 1.085m, 7 1/2 hours round hike (including breaks), totalling over 29k steps.

At 4am Saturday morning, I was doubtful it was going ahead, as the rain was torrential and the wind was buffeting my van. When we met for our safety briefing at 8am, the guy told us 2 things:

"The weather is not going to be kind to us today. In fact, if we can’t be away from the summit by 2pm, we will make a dynamic decision to turn around beforehand. The wind was due to be 60mph, with a feels like temp of -3. Going up is optional, coming down is mandatory. This is a challenge, make your choice".

We set off with 32 people, but only 29 made the summit. Between us, so far we have raised over £12k for The Eve Appeal, a Gynaecological Cancer charity.
I met some fantastic people, people who just asked every now and then, 'how are you?' We laughed, sometimes felt like crying, and chatted about life to take our mind off it.

Don't get me wrong, I know lots of people who have done this, but this was a massive tick for me. The conditions going up were brutal, imagine being in a wind tunnel, sometimes with a hosepipe aimed at you! Luckily coming down, conditions broke, and the sun briefly appeared.

Thankfully no blisters, largely due to my very expensive socks, that I would totally recommend (SealSkinz). I got very wet, was a little sore, but I learnt a lot about myself and what is important in life. There were times I was alone with the mountain, and that was good.

Would I do it again? YES! I did this for Mary , and in the hope that many other women don’t have to suffer from this cancer, with the help of technology and medical advances.

If you'd like to donate, there is still time, link is in the comments

To all those who have donated, thank you so very, very, much, it spurred me on! And, thank you Chris Wardman for holding the fort at Copper Turtle HQ.
